Product Overview

Epithalon (also known as Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly). It is designed to mimic the active moiety of Epithalamin, a natural polypeptide extract from the pineal gland. It is considered a "telomerase activator" in research settings. Epithalon is structurally distinct due to its short chain length, allowing for high bioavailability and interaction with chromatin structures in cellular models.

Mechanism of Research

The primary mechanism under investigation is the upregulation of telomerase activity in somatic cells. By stimulating telomerase, Epithalon is studied for its ability to facilitate the elongation of telomeres at the ends of chromosomes, potentially delaying cellular senescence (aging) and increasing the Hayflick limit. Secondary mechanisms involve the regulation of pineal gland function, specifically the normalization of melatonin synthesis and circadian rhythm entrainment.

Primary Areas of Investigation

  • Telomere Elongation & Cellular Senescence
  • Telomerase Enzyme Activation
  • Pineal Gland Regulation (Melatonin Synthesis)
  • Antioxidant & Geroprotective Research Models
